Adams County Young Women’s/Young Men’s Annual 7th Grade Leadership ConferenceMore than 1,205 attended; topics included Internet safety, respect, healthy body image, stress management, movement, healthy choices and relationships, nutrition, careers, goal setting and leadership skills
The York County Young Women’s Leadership ConferenceMore than 1,120 seventh-grade girls attended; topics included social hierarchies and teen relationships, gender aggression, stress management, healthy body image and goal setting
Inpatient and outpatient tobacco education and cessation at WellSpan York Hospital and WellSpan Gettysburg HospitalMore than 4,900 youth, children and adults participated
Numerous programs that encourage healthy eating and physical activity among young people and adults60 individuals completed an hour-long Steps to a Healthier You class; 53 people in York County and five in Adams County participated in the eight-week A Healthy You program focused on healthy weight management

Partnered with eight area middle schools to implement wellness policies that support healthy eating and physical activity

Awarded more than $1,700 in fitness equipment to seven schools in York and Adams counties, which will benefit approximately 3,000 current students

Challenged approximately 3,340 students to accumulate 1,260 minutes of physical activity over a 21-day period through the Kids on the Move program

Distributed Market Basket of the Month resource kits to promote fresh produce items to participating schools and expanded offering at four community market sites in York County
SafeKids injury prevention programs for children and parents; and bicycle, car seat, home and pedestrian safety initiatives1,631 children and adults participated in bike and pedestrian events

849 children and adults participated in Buckle Up community events

Provided inspection of 434 children car seats and provided 52 car seats to low income members of the community

67 local law enforcement officers, health and human service professionals, and hospital personnel participated in child passenger safety training

GO York community initiative to promote physical activity and summer readingAn estimated 11,152 GO and Search the Galaxy program guides were distributed by York County libraries with 1,283 returned at the program’s completion. Participants who returned their guides collectively walked 14,970 miles.
York County Countdown2Drive program participantProgram promoted safe driving and being a safe passenger, and encourages communication to 300 students age 13-15 and their guardians.
Roads to Freedom, a community initiative in Adams County to create active learning around 150th anniversary of the Battle of GettysburgAn estimated 1,368 program guides were distributed through local libraries and visitor’s centers with 184 returned at program completion. Participants who returned their journals walked a minimum of 1,582 miles at various locations throughout Adams County.
